PJ-Clad Community Rolls Strikes and Gutters to Raise Money for Foster Kids in 5th Annual Sleep Country USA Pajama Bowl
Fundraiser Provides Cash Support to Northwest Foster Care Organizations; Offers Fun Way for Businesses and Individuals to Contribute to Their Community
SEATTLE, WA, March 15, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- Sleep Country USA (www.sleepcountry.com), the Northwest's largest seller of premium mattresses, announced today its fifth annual Pajama Bowl for Foster Kids. The dual-city event takes place on Sunday April 18th in the Seattle area and Sunday April 25th in the Portland area. Last year's Pajama Bowl event inspired hundreds of caring individuals to don their favorite pajamas and bowl two games, raising more than $77,000 in much-needed cash to directly support Oregon and Washington's over 26,000 foster children.
Help Score a Strike for Kids in Need
"Bringing the community together to have fun while helping foster children in their own backyard is what this event is all about," said Terry Horsley, vice president of brand strategy, Sleep Country USA. "Our foster care partner organizations receive 100% of participant donations raised from the event to provide foster children with important necessities and resources such as music lessons, sports fees, tutoring, summer camps, and counseling. These contributions help to ensure foster children have a fulfilling childhood and successful transition into adulthood, underscoring our belief that while not everyone can be a foster parent, anyone can help a foster child."
Coming to an Alley Near You!
For the third year in a row, Sleep Country USA will host its Washington Pajama Bowls in two locations - Acme Bowl in Tukwila and Tech City Bowl in Kirkland on April 18th, giving interested bowlers the opportunity to select the location closest to them. For bowlers in the Portland area, this year's Pajama Bowl will again be held at Big Al's Bowling and Billiards in Vancouver on April 25th. Interested teams are urged to visit www.pajamabowl.com to learn more as well as register. A minimum of $250 in sponsorship money per five-person team (only $50 per person) is required to participate, and each team will be able to designate the recipient foster organization that will receive their sponsorship dollars.
Bowl in Style...Pajama Style
Pajama Bowl teams are encouraged to wear their favorite pair of family-friendly pajamas during the event—matching pajamas are even better! Each team will receive a score at the end of the event based upon their combined bowling average, amount donated, plus any additional points awarded for pajamas and raffles. The team with the most points at the end of the event will take home the grand prize of a brand new queen-size Simmons Beautyrest mattress set, also known as the "Bowling Ball" mattress, for each member of the winning team. Runner-up prizes will be award for second and third place. And, even if you don't place, you'll have a chance to win fun prizes throughout the event including music cds, dvds, event tickets and more.
