Marie S. Waldeck Recognized for Excellent Nonprofit Leadership
Marie S. Waldeck, CPSS, honored for invaluable community outreach services
CRANSTON, RI, April 13, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ --Marie S. Waldeck, CPSS, Executive Director for Initiatives for Human Development, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in outreach services.
It was during an internship at Butler Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, that Marie S. Waldeck first recognized her calling to work with youth and victims of substance abuse in her community. Inspired to attend the Community College of Rhode Island, she graduated with an associate degree in substance abuse and mental health counseling. She went on to become a certified prevention specialist supervisor recognized by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. In 2004, she also became certified in management through Brown University.
Today, Ms. Waldeck possesses 23 years of experience, specializing in strategic planning and assessment. As Executive Director at Initiatives for Human Development, she retains volunteers for substance abuse prevention, education and skill building programs. She coordinates with staff and the board of directors to plan strategies pertaining to community task groups, identifies and solves issues, and strategizes for organizational development.
Crediting her success to her supportive family, Ms. Waldeck will seek to further develop the center into a treatment and recovery center as she moves forward with the organization. In addition to her work at Initiatives, she maintains active affiliation with the Substance Abuse Council of the South Kingstown Partnership for Prevention and the National Association of Professional Women.
The Initiatives for Human Development offers two signature programs. "The Leadership Program" is an educational and development program for non-traditional high school and middle school youths. "Parents Are Teachers" helps parents to develop life skills. This program is offered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
