John W. Kelley Honored as Cambridge Publishing's Professional of the Year
John W. Kelley was the first school teacher in the Edison School District to bring computer training into the classroom
METUCHEN, NJ, December 02, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- John W. Kelley, CEO of MicroFone InfoService, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Communications & Technology. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
A 30-veteran of the education field, John W. Kelley is widely recognized as an innovator and visionary. He devoted the majority of his career to the Edison Township School District, where he became the first school teacher to bring computer training into the classroom in 1984. Mr. Kelley also advanced the use of ham radio in the classroom to teach language arts, introducing his students to language and culture in European and South American countries. Mr. Kelley's classroom and station was licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as K2SHY. He received several grants from the state of New Jersey for his work establishing amateur radio stations in the classroom. Proud to descend from a long line of educators, Mr. Kelley attributes his success to the support and guidance that he received from his family.
Officially retired from teaching, Mr. Kelley parlays his experience into MicroFone InfoService, a professional educational consultancy. In his current capacity as CEO of the firm, he utilizes his experience in communication and technology to provide educators with online resources and virtual bulletin board systems.
A few credits shy of earning his doctor of science degree, Mr. Kelley holds a master of science, a bachelor of science and an associate of arts in education, all from Monmouth University. His professional affiliations include the Edison Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association and the National Educational Association. Mr. Kelley worked closely with the local police department auxiliary in the past and is now a member of the Elks USA BPOE.
