Francisca Z. Garza has more than five decades of experience in nursing leadership

RIO GRANDE CITY, TX, March 22, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ --Francisca Z. Garza, Registered Nurse Consultant for TLC Adult Day Care Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing leadership.

A 14-year veteran of elderly care, Francisca Z. Garza is best noted for her skills in nursing staff review, management and oversight. She lends her talents at a geriatric care facility. As an RN Consultant, she oversees and conducts reviews of the nursing staff, manages compliance, and ensures adherence to state healthcare regulations.

Previously, Mrs. Garza did hospital and clinical work and home health care. She also devoted 30 years of her career to school nursing. It was her duty to perform physical assessments on hundreds of children to differentiate between normal and deficit findings in growth and development, spinal alignment, and vision and hearing. Children with abnormal findings would be referred to physicians for proper medical care. Mrs. Garza was involved with children who suffered from acute and chronic conditions and their management, including children with disabilities. It was her duty to identify nursing interventions for managing affective and behavioral disorders, substance abuse, violence prevention and other adolescent health problems. She was entrusted to review emergency disaster preparedness and first aid protocol. Mrs. Garza is credited, on a grand scale, for controlling communicable diseases in children by administering thousands of state required immunizations. Mrs. Garza holds the coveted National Certified School Nurse Certificate issued by the National Board for Certification of School Nurses.

Mrs. Garza became a Registered Nurse in 1960 through Dougherty School of Nursing in Corpus Christi, TX. As an active member of her community she served as president of the mother's club at Immaculate Conception School. Currently she is a lector at Immaculate Conception Church. She is a member of the Florence J. Scott Study Club and is a Board Member of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. Mrs. Garza has belonged to the Hidalgo County Genealogical Society and the Rio Grande City Garden Club where she served as a certified Flower Show Judge. She is past secretary of the Metro Toastmasters Club and is current secretary of the Rio Grande Wilderness Society. She is also a member of the Historical Preservation Commission of Rio Grande City, TX. When she is not working, Mrs. Garza enjoys the company of her husband, their four children, their spouses and ten grandchildren.
