Industry Leader Sonya K. Emperingham Added to the Cambridge Who's Who Network
Sonya K. Emperingham has been involved with literacy 36 years
VICTORIA, BC, CANADA, September 10, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- Sonya K. Emperingham, Retired Vice Principal, and Reading Recovery Specialist at School District 63, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Ms. Emperingham has 36 years of overall professional experience. Her responsibilities at School District 63 included managing school operations, meeting with staff, parents and children, organizing special events, and establishing literacy programs. She also assigned staff responsibilities for special needs students, served on committees for the design of a new school, and worked with trustees and teachers.
During her teaching career, Ms. Emperingham helped establish a new school by combining two very diverse communities. She had worked as a librarian at a university prior to joining School District 63. She is a member of the International Reading Recovery Trainers Organization and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
A trained recovery reading teacher, Ms. Emperingham holds a certification in young learners intervention. She received a master's degree in curriculum development from the University of Victoria.
