Sleep Country USA Offers Three Easy Ways to Help Foster Kids Dress for Success

Company-Sponsored Clothing Drive Seeks New Clothing for Regional Foster Children through July 10th

SEATTLE, WA, May 25, 2011 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- Figuring out what to wear can be the single most important and exciting part of a child's preparation for the day, but for many foster children who are removed from their homes with only the clothes on their back, having a closet of well-fitting clothes that allows them to blend in with their peers is not an option. That's why Sleep Country USA (http://www.sleepcountry.com), the number one mattress store in the Northwest, has outlined a simple 3-step process for the community to participate in its annual New Clothing Drive for Foster Kids. On now through July 10th, 2011, donations of new shirts, pants, dresses, socks, packaged undergarments, and sweaters can be dropped off at any Sleep Country USA store throughout Washington and Oregon - and there are 70!

Participating is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Guilt-free shopping! Browse local stores for sales and deals. Many stores offer buy 1 get 1 free days so you can give back and get something for yourself! Have kids? Let your children help too by picking out cool clothes for foster kids and teach them the rewards of helping others.
2. Give back! Donate your finds to any Sleep Country USA store near you. The company will then distribute your donation to one of its foster organization partners. Find out more about foster organizations in your area and the children they serve.
3. Tell your friends, family, co-workers! You'll inspire others to support the cause and may find that someone in your network is a former foster care child and has a story to share.

"For all kids, getting to pick out new clothes for school and play is exciting, but for foster kids it's also a chance to do what their friends and peers get to do, providing a sense of normalcy in a situation that is not," said Janis Avery, CEO of Treehouse, one of Sleep Country's foster organization partners. "At Treehouse, we place all of these new clothing items in our Wearhouse where foster children and their families get to come and have a shopping experience without the cost! Thanks to support from Sleep Country USA and our community at-large, we can consistently ensure foster kids experience the same joy as other children as they take home their new favorite shirt, pair of jeans, or school backpack. They know they look their best and have what they need to feel confident and fit in."

Sleep Country's Clothing Drive starts May 23rd and runs through July 10th, 2011. The company holds the annual drive as an ongoing effort to help foster children and foster families afford new clothing that can become costly. Donations are distributed among the company's regional foster care partners who help the nearly 20,000 foster children in Washington and Oregon get dressed for school, sports, and weekend activities in confidence.

Sleep Country USA encourages businesses and community groups to host their own clothing drive, and has created an easy to follow guide for doing so. The company can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/sleepcountryusa.
