Patricia Arango Joins The Stanford Who's Who Community

Patricia Arango has been accepted into the exclusive network of premier professionals with Stanford Who's Who as a result of her exceptional effort in public service.

    CHATHAM, ON, CANADA, October 29, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Patricia Arango has been accepted into the exclusive network of premier professionals with Stanford Who's Who as a result of her exceptional effort in public service. As Executive Director of Chatham-Kent Women's Centre, as well as throughout her brilliant professional career, Patricia has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication required to be considered among the best.

The Chatham-Kent Women's Centre is a nonprofit organization that exists to support women and children who are facing violence by providing shelter, advocacy, counseling and public education in a non-judgmental and empowering fashion and to model non-violent and respectful behavior and relationships. The organization provides a continuum of services and a holistic approach to help women and children escape violence and rebuild their lives. They nurture families from crisis intervention to re-integration into the community with programs providing emotional support, practical help and life skills.

Patricia is responsible for overseeing operations as well as counseling and helping clients. She began her work with the Chatham-Kent Women's Centre as a Residential Manager, which gave her the opportunity to continue her numerous years of commitment in helping abused women and children. Patricia utilized her vast experience helping immigrants to link with community resources in helping abused women to link with the necessary resources. After a year, she was offered and accepted the position of Executive Director.

During her collegiate career, Patricia earned a Master's degree in Social and Community Psychology in her native Colombia. After moving to Canada, she attended George Brown College to obtain her Advanced Counseling Skills and then to the University of Toronto to become a Certified Solution Focus Therapist and Cognitive Behavior Therapist. This gained her acceptance to the Ontario Association of Therapists. She is a member of the Chatham Kent Strategic Planning committee, vice chair of the Cultural Coalition, and an active member of the Positive Space Initiative.
