Cambridge Who's Who Names Joan Hinderliter-Darnell Professional of the Year in Special Education
Ms. Hinderliter-Darnell's passion for working with special needs children led her to become a teacher
CAMDEN, NJ, December 13, 2011 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- Joan Hinderliter-Darnell, a special needs teacher affiliated with Camden City Public Schools, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Special Education. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.
As a Special Needs teacher, Ms. Hinderliter-Darnell feels that every day is an adventure, never knowing what the students will say or do. She teaches special needs students in order to provide them with the basic skills that they need to succeed. She is giving, caring and sensitive to all the needs of her students, wanting, above all, for them to be successful. She became involved in her profession because Girl Scouts of the USA gave her the opportunity to work with special needs children; she loved it and stayed with it.
Ms. Hinderliter-Darnell earned a Master's degree in Growth and Development from La Salle University in 1988 after receiving Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Kutztown State College in 1982. Motivated by her many students who struggled with learning but have gone on to become successful adults, Ms. Hinderliter-Darnell plans to continue teaching for the foreseeable future.
